PUBLIC HEARING: Clean energy targets, energy consumption and communicate assistance programs

On May 7, 2019, Governor Jay Inslee signed into law the Clean Energy Transformation ACT (CETA), which commits Washington State to achieve an electricity supply that is 100% greenhouse gas emissions free by 2045.

The Clean Energy Transformation ACT (CETA) provides safeguards to maintain affordable rates and reliable service. It also requires an equitable distribution of the benefits from the transition to clean energy for all utility customers and adds and expands energy assistance programs for low-income customers.

Grant PUD will be hosting a public hearing to share its plans to reduce energy consumption and communicate assistance programs to qualifying households of highly impacted areas throughout the county. This approach will be incorporated into the Clean Energy Implementation Plan (CEIP) that demonstrates how they will work to meet carbon standards at the lowest reasonable cost in the next four years.

To facilitate this public participation in developing its CEIP, Grant PUD will be conducting a virtual workshop to discuss and take public comment on its CEIP. This virtual workshop will occur as part of the business meeting during the October 26 commission meeting. The business meeting begins at 1 p.m. and attendees can participate virtually by calling 509-703-5291 and using conference ID 287 686 505#

Customers can learn more about the CETA by visiting the Washington State Department of Commerce's website https://www.commerce.wa.gov/growing-the-economy/energy/ceta/
