Overview: The project began with design work in 1993, continued with testing into 2002 and installation of the first of 10 new turbines in 2004. The task of replacing each unit at the dam has been ongoing and will end when the 10th unit is complete in 2020.
Benefits: The project includes replacing the original turbines and replacing or refurbishing generating equipment at the dam which is nearing the end of its useful life. The advanced equipment is designed to be 3 percent more efficient. It will also reduce wear on the equipment and improve passage of juvenile salmon. The project will allow Grant PUD to remain compliant with our FERC license.
