Design Build Substations
Overview: Grant PUD is planning to use a Design Build process to construct and/or upgrade seven needed Grant PUD substations within the county.
Benefits: With Design Build, Grant PUD is expecting to increase the speed of constructing and commissioning substations to help lower the cost to deliver energy to our customers. The utility is forming a team with expert consultants who have knowledge and experience with the Design Build project delivery method. The team will identify substations for the project and develop a project schedule in the near future. The State of Washington's Capital Projects Advisory Review Board approved our Substation Reliability Project on July 24, 2015.
Contractor: HDR/Wilson Construction Company has been awarded the contract/guaranteed maximum price for our Design Build program. Grant PUD's commissioners approved the contract with HDR/Wilson on Nov. 10, 2015.
Construction start: May 2016
Project completion: July 2017
Overall Cost: $34 million
